Botox rejuvenates your face in a session. It is the star product of aesthetic medicine. It will give you a real glow and smooth your wrinkles for several months.

In addition, it is used in the prevention of aging. Indeed, resting the muscles avoids the dermal fracture to become worse.

It is an anti-wrinkle product that is much more effective than a cream.

Botox Injection: How does a session work?

To have a relaxed, serene and rested appearance, the doctor will practice microinjections. The session takes place in the doctor’s office and lasts about 15 minutes. After the session you can return to work immediately.

No specific preparation is necessary, but it is advisable to avoid taking aspirin and anti-inflammatories, the days preceding the session to avoid the blues.

During the following 2 hours after the injection, it is recommended not to do intensive sport and not to lie down. Avoid rubbing or massaging treated areas for 24 hours after the session.

Indeed, the product is injected directly into the muscles concerned and must not evolve elsewhere.

Your result will appear 72 hours after treatment and reach its maximum ten days later. It mainly deals with the “lion wrinkles”, vertical wrinkles between the two eyebrows, the “crow’s feet” that frame the eyes, and the horizontal wrinkles of the forehead that appear when the eyebrows are raised.

While rejuvenating the face, Botox gives it a relaxed, more serene and rested appearance. It lasts four months on average, is reversible and significantly increases its duration of action over the sessions. Generally, one to two maintenance sessions per year are sufficient to maintain a good result.

In addition, the injections are painless and do not require anesthesia. At worse, an anesthetic cream will be applied to improve the comfort of the patient. Following injections, redness, see some temporary bruising may appear.

Our expert advice: Dr Olivia Chokron

Botulinum Toxin injections are the most popular aesthetic medical procedure in the UK. Indeed, by temporarily relaxing upper muscles of the face, they decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

A lot of patients are concerned with the first lines that appear around the eyes and the forehead: Botox is indeed a great solution.

My ultimate recommendation would be to not solely focus on these lines but rather the global harmony of the face: I often recommend to combine Botox with other light treatments to improve the overall aspect of the face.

What is Botulinum?
Botox is derived from a botulinum toxin (clostridium botulinum). However, Botox is a protein that has been purified 27 times to arrive at the well-known product, Cosmetic or Therapeutic Botox.
Has Botox been around for a long time?
Botulinum toxin was discovered in 1946. Its use in medicine began in 1985 to treat strabismus (the eyepiece), blepharospasm and hemifacial spasms. Observations showed that patients treated with Botox for blepharospasm had virtually no appearance of wrinkles of expression between the eyebrows commonly called glabella. So today our experience with Cosmetic Botox dates back more than 10 years.
Is Botox dangerous?
Botox is absolutely not dangerous when dosage and instructions are respected.
How long does the effect of a Botox last?
The effect of Botox can last between 5 and 8 months regardless of your facial expression. Some will contract a lot and others much less. For those who still have the face in grimace, it must be expected that it will not last more than 5 months. And for the calmer facial, the effect can go up to 8 months.
How much does a Botox treatment cost?
The cost of a Botox treatment depends primarily on the type and quantity of the product used to make the injections. In addition, other parameters such as the qualification of the doctor, the brand of the injected product, the standing of the practice or the clinic, etc. are added.
